Pre-School

(Age 2 - 4 years)

Following the closure of Stage 1 on 9 May 2019 and now Stage 2 on 11 June 2019 a total of 22805 (97.30%) children in their final year of pre-school have been placed with 85.35% being offered a place at their first preference setting for September 2019.

Applications for underage children (born on or between 2 July 2016 and 1 July 2017) were also processed during Stage 2 and a total of 681 (22.97%) were placed in a Nursery School/Nursery Unit with 17.94% being offered a place at their first preference.  For admission to pre-school the priority of pre-school places is given to target age children who are in their final year of Pre-school before underage children and a parent of an underage child can only apply for a place in a Nursery School/Nursery Unit.

Parents whose application was processed in Stage 2 received letters on Wednesday 12 June, informing them of which Pre-school their child has been placed. Parents who were unsuccessful in obtaining a funded Pre-school place for their child in Stage 2 will receive notification from the Education Authority (EA) advising what they need to do now.

If you have received a letter at the close of Stage 2 you can read the 'what you need to do now' information leaflet below

For parents who were unsuccessful in obtaining a Pre-school place or who still have to apply, you can access below a list of funded Pre-school providers who may still have funded places now at the close of Stage 2.
An application form is also available below
